What Adobe software is like Microsoft Publisher ???
Question by B: What Adobe software is like Microsoft Publisher ???
I need an Adobe software that has all the templates, designs for brochures, menus, business cards, etc.

Professional software does not come w/ templates – just certain tool presets and filters. You MIGHT be able to find some Quark or InDesign templates for sale online though. But honestly, if this is for a business, wouldn’t you prefer the menu and brochure reflected your company’s branding…look and feel? A template isn’t very original, now is it? Photoshop, Illustrator, Quark, InDesign…are all used by professional designers who have a good grasp of graphic design, and have been trained to visually communicate ideas. They know how to properly work with Fonts/Typography, Graphics, Layout, Composition…etc. These programs are a clean empty canvas waiting to be filled up.
Publisher shouldn’t be used for anything you want to get printed professionally…as you can see it isn’t really very compatible or useful unless you are printing at home.
Would you ever consider hiring a designer to take a look at your already created menu design, and they can recreate it (though they will not copy your template, but could come up w/ a similar look/concept). They already know how to work w/ the software – it takes some time to really know and understand these programs. Do you know how to setup the files for print? Do you know how to work with High resolution images, and what format the printer needs them in? Have you any experience working with a printer? These are all questions to ask yourself and decide if it is really worth trying to be a graphic designer or not. Could your time be better spent?
I have worked w/ many people who have their designs in publisher, only to need me to redo it. So please keep that in mind. If your on a tight budget, you could pay a local talented design student! Just some ideas for you.
I hope I’ve been of some help to you! Best of Luck!

You cannot make anything with Reader – it’s for reading.
By brochure do you mean something folded into panels? Look into Format Columns or Tables depending on the arrangement you want.

Question About using Adobe Photoshop to create a brochure?
Question by TheGreatOne: Question About using Adobe Photoshop to create a brochure?

so my question to you adobe genius’ is do I get a template for a trifold brochure – create and design in photoshop – AND THEN AS IT NEEDS TO BE PRINTED export it into illustrator to add crops and bleeds and save as pdf?

Use what you know. I know guys who use Photoshop for adding special effects to feature length movies.
What kind of template could be helpful? Why wouldn’t setting the page size and resolution to the final printed size not be adequate? Then fill in the material. For final printing on a raster type device—like a photo quality printer—vector graphics is no advantage. The vectors will still have to be rasterized for printing.

In-Design is for creating brochures. Photoshop and Illustrator are used for the Graphics.
Photoshop elements is a stripped down version photoshop with very basic functions. So i think you may be stuck for a while
Try downloading the indesign trial from the adobe website http://www.adobe.com/downloads/

Having problems with Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop (cs2)?
Question by riggers: Having problems with Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop (cs2)?
Anyone any good with Photoshop & Illustrator CS2?
I’ve knocked up a couple of flyers in illustrator using mostly vector graphics & type. I have edited some jpeg images in fotoshop by removing the background, resizing them and adding a single layer style (outer glow) I saved them in my documents as a PDF file. All was fine when i placed them into my illustrator documnet. After finishing the flyer i saved them as one PDF and one AI file.
I can open/view the file in Adobe Reader 8 with all the images and artwork absoloutley fine but, when i came to open the two different files in Illustrator all the images were missing and an error dialouge box appeared which read:
‘Could not find the linked file (named image). Choose repair to locate the missing file, or replace to select another file or, ignore to leave the link unchanged’.
What’s really odd, is that i used the original layout as a template for another flyer and these opened fine in Illustrator with all the images ok. Any one help

Did you move those two files from where you had them when you creating them? If you put them in a different folder or moved the folder they were in to a different location on your computer OR if you moved the images you were using, you broke the links. When you placed those images from Photoshop into Illustrator, you were creating a link to the actual images. So somehow the link has been broken.
