GRAPHIC DESIGnERS HELP!?
Question by u know u love me: GRAPHIC DESIGnERS HELP!?
I’m new at this so please help…
A company has asked me for template designs…they want about 30 different designs of business cards brochures and so on… then the clients would choose the design they like and they would add the logo and names and everything..so all I have to give are the designs.
I’m working on illustrator CS3…my questions are:
1)should I keep all the 30 business card designs, for example, on the same page, or should each 1 be on a separate page?
2)should I include bleed and crop marks?
3) should I save on eps?
5)how much money should I ask for? I don’t want to ask for too much…

1. 30 is way way way too many. You should tell them that you normally give
2. For the final yeah, for them to see it no. I would put a water mark also.
3. For final yes, for them to mark up I would send them a Pdf book with them.
4. I also like cheese.
5. I have no clue, but try not to lower your price too much, they already seem to be taken advantage of you.
hope this helps you.

I may not understand you correctly, but I think 30 different designs for a business card is too many to give because chances are what they will want will be a combination of two that you give them anyway. 3 is customary, 10 is generous. Either they have their own ideas or value your opinion, either way it shouldn’t take 30 of your original designs to begin with for them to pick something.
1,2- make them life sized and just draw the crop line. Put 6 or 8 to a page, 2 pages max.
3- yeah
4- Not sure what you’re asking
5- Consult the G.A.G. handbook depends on company size, etc.

Experienced Graphic Designers ONLY (please) Do you think its good design judgement to use silhouettes?
Question by Tavannia7: Experienced Graphic Designers ONLY (please) Do you think its good design judgement to use silhouettes?
I know ipod had the silhouette thing, but nowadays the only silhouette designs I really see are in powerpoint templates. My friend is making a branding system for himself and his logo is really good but for his other branding materials he wants to incorporate business people silhouettes with a blue gradient background. I told him his brochure looked like a template and not nearly as creative as his logo, but he disagrees. What do you think? (examples of what I’m talking about:

I don’t have an example of his brochure but it is very similar to the blue powerpoint designs in the above link.

My personal opinion on silhouettes is, if it’s unique, something new, it can be really eye catching. If it’s not totally unique and doesn’t grab an immediate second look I would advise him to put a logo on the bottom right, maybe incorporate a gradient spot color of his primary logo color with his business name in text.
It’s easy, and should look classy and professional. If you must use a picture make sure it doesn’t take away from the logo after all it sounds like he is still branding.
My 2 cents. Good luck with whatever he picks.
